In 1967 I wrote a musical for children based on a story from "The Daring Young Man on a Flying Trapeze" by William Saroyan, in which a Prince falls in love with, and learns a great deal from, a young peasant girl named Pari. It was published by McGraw-Hill as a part of their ‘Little Theater Series’ in a unique beautifully-designed package for schools that included a piano score and copies of scripts for each of the students in the cast. It was sold and performed in schools nationally, and later in summer stock theaters.
This is my original demo recording, done at the piano with an old reel-to-reel tape recorder around the time I was shopping it around to record companies and publishers live at the piano in their offices. It somehow survived long enough to be transferred to cassette and then digitized with just some tolerable distortion.
